Here’s What Carson Catlin Is Bringing to SDCC ‘13

Carson Catlin will be bringing his cut up creations to SDCC for the first time this year. The Momentum will be available for $600 and the Kidrobot mascots will be $200 each. 10 blindboxed reticulated Munnys will also be available for $40 a piece. The Beast Bros. Calavera skulls will run $200 each and the reticulated boxes will be $60 each.

All of the above will be available at booth 5350 and the boxes will be available during the con at memakestore.com. Carson will also be selling some additional items at the Dragatomi booth and will have some extra stuff during his signings.

Arona Munny by Carson Catlin

This insane dichotomy is the latest work from Carson Catlin. Get it? “Dichotomoy?” Cuz the word comes from “incision.” *Ahem*

Anyway, this is definitely one of Carson’s funkiest customs. The half-reticulated 7-incher is definitely eye-catching. It was given away recently, but Carson says he may do more half-reticulations in the future.

Carson Catlin just finished up these three new commissions. The Calaverita was Carson’s first sofubi custom. The silver paint if actually from a Krink marker.

Reticulated Mario & Luigi from Carson Catlin
Carson Catlin has 1-upped himself this time. He’s customized these Mario and Luigi toys for Game On in San Francisco. Love ‘em more than ‘shrooms and facial hair? Plunk down 500 coins for one of the figures or 900 for both at the show on March 22.

New Cuts from Carson Catlin

I’m pretty sure Carson Catlin was a plastic surgeon in a past life. Here are his two most recent commissions of vinyl omission. If you dig the Kidrobot Mascot figures, you might be in luck. Carson is thinking of bringing a haul of them to SDCC 2013.

Custom Tequila from Carson Catlin

Carson Catlin, known for cutting stuff up, just finished carving this custom Brujo Narco Satanico Tequila. “I did my best to accentuate the already iconic lines of the sculpt,” says Carson, who also mentioned that he has two slots open for commissions. Check out more photos of the custom Tequila here or inquire about commissions here.

DCON 2012 Will Be Full of Holes

Because Carson Catlin is coming, and he’s bringing the reticulation. Available at the Spankystokes booth will be ten 3” Black Rainbow dunnys ($50 each), three Mad’ls ($150 to $300), three 1,000 Points of Lights (my favorite, $125 each), and two reticulated Marka27 dunnys ($75 each). But wait - there’s more! Carson will be cutting a pink Mad’l at 2:15 it away for free.

Albotas Goes to The Designer Toy Awards

Following up a crazy night like Kidrobot’s 10th anniversary party was going to be tough. But it’s not every day that you get to go to Clutter’s Designer Toy Awards. We grabbed our VIP pass, walked right past the line, and grabbed a Shirley Temple. Because we’re that cool. Big thanks to Clutter, Sekure D, Wheelbarrow, Carson Catlin, J*Ryu, Steff Bomb, and especially Erick Scarecrow! Hit the link for some photos of The Designer Toy Awards.

How It’s Made: Swiss Cheese Munny

Carson Catlin customized [alliteration unintentional] a Mini Munny not just with paint, but with a heat gun, Dremel and, X-acto knife. The result was this trippy piece and a stop-mo video.
