TABLETOP RPGS GET CLASSY WITH THE ADVENTURER’S KIT

Designed by Mitch Barchi, the Adventurer’s Kit is what I imagine someone like Mark Twain or Winston Churchill would have played D&D with back in their day.

From the artist:

The Adventurer’s Kit had been inspired by my lifelong passion for roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons or World of Dungeons. My goal was to create a portable kit that anyone could pickup and play a quick, or introductory, roleplaying session with little to no prep time. I created a simple overland map illustration for the lid using the Art Institute of Seattle’s lasercutter. I also included a standard set of polyhedral dice since they are used in many roleplaying systems. Many roleplaying systems also use miniatures, I wanted to include some basic minis for the players. The miniatures featured in these sets are vintage unpainted Heroscape monsters. Also provided is a Moleskine notebook with gridded paper if the player or game master want to map a dungeon or take notes. Each kit also includes a pamphlet for the excellent hack and slash World of Dungeons RPG system. These printouts and other adventure PDFs can be found on Dungeon-World.com for free. With the tools provided in these kits players and game masters alike can enjoy an adventure on the go.

Too bad it’s a one-off. This guy should think about pitching this to Wizards of the Coast for some sort of D&D Collector’s Edition Starter Set idea. I’d totally by the living shit out of something like that.

Fund Some Spooky-Silly Comics by Jess Smart Smiley and Dave Scheidt

You want some creepy terror that people of all-ages can read and enjoy? Of course you do — everybody wants that! So Jess Smart Smiley and Dave Scheidt are working together to make just that happen, but they need some Kickstarter help.

The duo are trying to raise $5000 to give readers stories on a haunted toilet, a garbage-eating werewolf, and so much more. Check out the project here to help donate to the soon-to-be great book. There are plenty of rewards left for those wanting to toss some bucks toward Jess Smart Smiley and Dave Scheidt — two equally awesome friends of mine and truly creative folks.

COMIC BOOK STAINED GLASS WINDOWS

Check out these custom made stained glass windows by Redditor OwlQuill. Perfect for the Holy Church of Geekery if one were to actually exist somewhere. if it did, I would want to be the Reverend. Or maybe the minister. Is there a difference? Whoever gets the coolest outfit.

As awesome as these are, the Hawkeye one makes my heart sad knowing that the series will end with issue #22. Great job, Matt Fraction. You broke my heart, you perfect bastard.

DIY MODDER CREATES YET ANOTHER COOL WAY TO PLAY TETRIS

Tetris has been projected onto 29-story buildings and even played using lights of buildings themselves. Turkish modder Murat İnan has developed his own version that involves projecting the game onto the floor and playing with your feet.

Check it out in action below.

Handmade Magic: The Gathering Sketch Book

This was whipped up by stonedzone and I kind of want one to fill with my “Planeswalkers As Hipsters" series.

The World’s First 3D Printed Skateboard
Dutch artist Samuel Abbot won a 3D printer in a contest organized by 3DPrintUK and CGTrader. He then used the printer and his trusty design skills to create this amazingly badass skateboard. Click through for more pics and a video to see how it was made.

From the designer:

It wasn’t quite as straight forward as just a print as the board is longer than our build tray, meaning that we had to cut it into 3 sections, joining it together with some connector pins to ensure accuracy and to give it some strength over a simple butt joint.

Action Figures Made Entirely From Twisty Ties

I’ve paid actual money for action figures that aren’t nearly as cool as these.

Enchiridion iPad Case

In the world of Adventure Time, the Enchiridion is a sacred handbook for heroes, filled with all kinds of useful info like how to harness the magical healing properties of cyclops tears and how to kiss princesses. It can also rip wormholes through the multiverse leading to the total annihilation of all existence, but that’s a whole other thing.

HarryDumitrescu made this Enchiridion iPad cover using fake leather, a Molotow pen, and clear finish. Check out the WIP pics here.

Custom Wooden Game Of Thrones Risk Set

Fay Helfer whipped up this exquisitely classy Game of Thrones Risk set complete with an engraved wooden box, a wood-carved map of Westeros, and cloth pouches to hold the game pieces. The fact that the game pieces aren’t shown makes me think he just used the ones that come with an actual game of Risk, but I could be wrong. Even if I’m not, I wouldn’t knock the dude for it because this whole thing is just too absurdly awesome.
