Batman Is Getting A New Arcade Game And It Looks Pretty Awesome

Bummed about the lack of Batmobile action in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham City? Well hopefully this will make up for it. Spectacular Action and Raw Thrills will be putting out an all new Batman arcade game this November where players will get pilot a wide variety of Batmobiles such as the 60’s TV and Tumbler incarnations and even the Batwing!

Players can save their progress via a PIN pad and multiple machines can even be hooked up for multiplayer action, but we’re not sure if this is a straight-up racing game, or something more Crazy Taxi-esque with an open world and multiple missions.

Keep an eye out at your local arcade (they still exist!) this November.

Former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi, 1927-2013
He transformed a toy company called Nintendo into a video game giant that would change the world forever. Thanks for everything.

Yamauchi took over his grandfather’s hanafuda card company at the age of 22, driving its transformation into a thriving toy maker and then a video game powerhouse. During those transitions, he fostered inimitable talents at Nintendo like Game Boy creator Gunpei Yokoi, famed designer Shigeru Miyamoto, and the firm’s current president Satoru Iwata.
Just as important, he instilled principles in the company that endure there today a decade after his retirement, emphasizing compelling software over powerful hardware, and pushing his employees to create unique experiences.

"What did Hiroshi Yamauchi care about? He couldn’t stand making the same kind of toy the other guy was making, so whatever you showed him, you knew he was going to ask, ‘How is this different from what everybody else is doing?’ The worst way to answer was to tell him, ‘It’s not different, it’s just a little better.’ He’d be furious. He was very clear on just how foolish that attitude was for a toy company."

Yamauchi passed away today due to complications from pneumonia, just a year after his wife Michiko died. He is survived by his two daughters, Yoko and Fujiko, and his son Katsuhito.

Pokémon X & Y Starter Evolutions Revealed
We have a look at the evolutions of the three new starters along with some new Mega-Evolutions, brand new Pokémon, and a look at the all new trainer customization options.

Braixen
This is the evolved form of the Fire Type starter Fennekin. And check out the twig shoved in his tail. Remind you of Farfetch’d much? It appears Braixen holds some sort of psychic powers and can use a special move called Psyshock that deals Psychic-type damage as though it were physical damage - strong against opponents with high Special Defense. Looks like our days of worrying about yet another Fire/Fighting starter are finally over!

Frogadier
This is the evolved form of the water type Froakie. He can use those powerful frog legs to use the flying move Bounce which is effective against any Grass-type opponents who might pose a threat.

Quilladin
Evolved form of Chespin. This dude definitely puts on a few pounds when he evolves. This evolved form has a spiky armor shell that can withstand tough hits and damages opponents when they strike. If you’re worried about any Fire-types ruining your day, Quilladin can learn the trusty Ground-type move Mud Shot which should help even the odds.

Furfrou
This guy definitely seems interesting. This Poodle Pokémon can be groomed, and the more you groom it, the more styles are unlocked. Shown here are the original form and three styles, but there will be more to unlock in the full game. If you don’t groom it regularly, its hair grows back to its original form. Furfrou can also learn a new Fairy-type move called Baby-Doll Eyes which lets it attack first no matter what it’s Speed stat is, and it can also lower the opponent’s Attack.

Meowstic
This Psychic-type Pokémon comes in a female form (the white one) and a male form (the blue one) and the moves it can learn vary based on its gender.

Pyrorar
Another Pokémon with different forms based on gender. You can probably figure out which one’s the guy and which one’s the girl.

Amaura
One of two new Pokémon that can be evolved from fossils.

Tyrunt
The other fossil Pokémon. We’re guessing these guys will only be obtainable in one version of the game or the other, but not both - just like the fossils from every other game in the series. Let the trading commence!

Mega Mewtwo X
Apparently that other Mega Mewtwo wasn’t the only Mega Evolution. That other guy was Mega Mewtwo Y. Players can obtain a rare item called Mewtwonite X in Pokémon X and Mewtwonite Y in Pokémon Y. Let your Mewtwo hold the corresponding item to transform into that version of Mega Mewtwo. Mega Mewtwo X gains the Fighting type in addition to Psychic, and Mega Mewtwo Y gets a significant Speed boost.

Mega Garchomp
As if this dude wasn’t already a beast in competitive play, they went and gave him a Mega. In addition to obscenely larger blades, Mega Garchomp gets increased Attack and Special Attack.

Trainer customization!!!

Within the game, there’ll be different boutiques offering a variety of clothes, hats, and accessories to style your character with. Is it bad that I’m a 29 year old male and this is the feature that I’m most excited for? It’s bad enough that I’m 29 and play Pokémon, but sheesh!
For the first time ever, I’m actually debating playing as a girl character just because it looks like they have cuter clothes. I mean, for real dude, purple kapris!? For shame! Now the shorty with the belly shirt and glasses/hat combo and the other one with the cute little vest and thigh-highs? Yeah, they both know what’s up.

Team Flare
Now check out these bad-ass futuristic sci-fi chicks! These are four of the five scientist believed to be the driving force behind Team Flare, Pokémon X & Y’s new team of baddies. Celosia is rocking the purple hair, Aliana is the orange-haired one, Bryony has the green hair, and Mable has the blue. Dear Nintendo, please make some Figmas of all four of these characters. PLEASE!

Xerosic
The fifth of Team Flare’s 5 scientists.

Diantha
Super famous movie star that players will meet throughout the game. He jacket looks super inconvenient. Toilet stalls must be the worst.
And without further ado…
…here’s a new trailer for Pokémon X & Y showing off all the cool stuff mentioned above.

You can support our site by pre-ordering your copy of Pokémon X or Pokémon Y from Amazon. Much appreciated.

Nintendo Announces The 2DS

File this under: Weird and Completely Out of Left Field. Nintendo will be releasing a non-3D version of the 3DS that looks like a hybrid between a Fisher Price toy and a dual-screen tablet. The system will play regular DS games, 3DS games sans the 3D, and any downloadable DS or 3DS games available from the Nintendo eShop.

Seems like Nintendo is positioning themselves into getting handheld games into the hands of a younger demographic by offering a cheaper and - from the looks of it - more durable system that won’t kill developing young little eyeballs with 3D technology.

The Nintendo 2DS will be available in either red or blue starting October 12, 2013 for $129.99.

In other news, the Wii U Deluxe Bundle will drop $50 in price down to $299.99 starting September 20th.

Video: What Do Those Often-Cited Studies Really Say About Video Games and Violent Behavior?
With the media storm scrambling to find a scapegoat for the all too often occurrences of gun violence (instead of looking deep within the rooted issues of our culture) video games have once again come under fire for being violent.
Luckily, the fantastic news show The Young Turks is here to shed some light on what the often cited-by-conservative-news-monkey studies really have to say.
Spoiler: The studies actually go as far to cite the problematic testing techniques and hard to define aspects of the studies. Even more surprising is the fact that these studies, which are cited quite a lot, even note that there are many other factors that attribute to violent behavior.
One of those factors is access to guns.
Again, the same pundits that try to use video games as a scapegoat in order to A) keep the gun lobby strong and B) prevent people from looking deeper at the real issues, are in fact citing from a source that notes that guns are more of an important factor in violent behavior than video games are.
However, i think that the real thing to take away from this is the fact that there needs to be more research into the issues of violent behavior and video games. The more hard facts we have, the easier it will be to defend ourselves.

Adam Sessler Talks To Fox News About Violence In Video Games
Respected video game journalist Adam Sessler spoke to Fox news about the much-discussed topic video games making people violent. Sessler conducted himself like a true pro in every sense of the word while remaining completely honest and informative.

"Games are not made for children. If a game has the name of a felony in it, it’s probably unwise for your children."
Preach it, brother.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Packshots And New Trailer

Confession: I’ve never played a Monster Hunter Game. They always seemed like too much of a timesuck, but I think it’s time to let my time be sucked because this game looks awesome. Plus, all my friends who play Monster Hunter swear that it’s the shit and I suck at peer pressure, so this will officially be the first game in the series that I play.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate hits the WiiU and 3DS March 22, 2013 and a playable demo hits both systems on February 21.

And now the real question: do I get this for WiiU and show my new system some love, or should I get it for 3DS so I can play on the go?

NINTENDO TEASES “BIG NEWS” FOR POKEMON FANS

The official Pokemon Twitter recently teased an announcement coming on January 8th. I kind of hope it’s a new Pokemon game for either the Wii or Wii U that will let me and my friends battle our Generation V dudes on the big screen with fancy graphics.

What do you think it could be?

A Little Bit On The Girl Fight Side: Girl Fight appears to be a hyper-sexualized fighter coming to PSN and Xbox LIVE Arcade sometime soon and is being developed by Kung Fu Factory and produced by Microprose. Details are scant, but the game is being shown off at GDC this week, so hopefully we’ll get some footage and screenshots soon. All we know is that is looks super sexy and the music makes us bob our nuggets

Check out the vid below of the song “kill me” by Gabe Castro from the Girl Fight soundtrack. It’s pretty dope and features scenes from od-school high school shows like Saved By The Bell and 90210.

If the game’s as awesome as this video, I’m sold.

A Little Bit On The Jet Set Radio HD Side: We showed you the teaser, we told you about the contest where you can have your graffiti in the game, and now we present the first official trailer for the JSR HD re-make headed to Xbox LIVE, PSN, and PC this Summer. Now if only we could get an official sequel.
