Video: What Do Those Often-Cited Studies Really Say About Video Games and Violent Behavior?
With the media storm scrambling to find a scapegoat for the all too often occurrences of gun violence (instead of looking deep within the rooted issues of our culture) video games have once again come under fire for being violent.
Luckily, the fantastic news show The Young Turks is here to shed some light on what the often cited-by-conservative-news-monkey studies really have to say.
Spoiler: The studies actually go as far to cite the problematic testing techniques and hard to define aspects of the studies. Even more surprising is the fact that these studies, which are cited quite a lot, even note that there are many other factors that attribute to violent behavior.
One of those factors is access to guns.
Again, the same pundits that try to use video games as a scapegoat in order to A) keep the gun lobby strong and B) prevent people from looking deeper at the real issues, are in fact citing from a source that notes that guns are more of an important factor in violent behavior than video games are.
However, i think that the real thing to take away from this is the fact that there needs to be more research into the issues of violent behavior and video games. The more hard facts we have, the easier it will be to defend ourselves.

Adam Sessler Talks To Fox News About Violence In Video Games
Respected video game journalist Adam Sessler spoke to Fox news about the much-discussed topic video games making people violent. Sessler conducted himself like a true pro in every sense of the word while remaining completely honest and informative.

“Games are not made for children. If a game has the name of a felony in it, it’s probably unwise for your children.”
Preach it, brother.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Packshots And New Trailer

Confession: I’ve never played a Monster Hunter Game. They always seemed like too much of a timesuck, but I think it’s time to let my time be sucked because this game looks awesome. Plus, all my friends who play Monster Hunter swear that it’s the shit and I suck at peer pressure, so this will officially be the first game in the series that I play.

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate hits the WiiU and 3DS March 22, 2013 and a playable demo hits both systems on February 21.

And now the real question: do I get this for WiiU and show my new system some love, or should I get it for 3DS so I can play on the go?

NINTENDO TEASES “BIG NEWS” FOR POKEMON FANS
The official Pokemon Twitter recently teased an announcement coming on January 8th. I kind of hope it’s a new Pokemon game for either the Wii or Wii U that will let me and my friends battle our Generation V dudes on the big screen with fancy graphics.

A Little Bit On The Girl Fight Side: Girl Fight appears to be a hyper-sexualized fighter coming to PSN and Xbox LIVE Arcade sometime soon and is being developed by Kung Fu Factory and produced by Microprose. Details are scant, but the game is being shown off at GDC this week, so hopefully we’ll get some footage and screenshots soon. All we know is that is looks super sexy and the music makes us bob our nuggets

Check out the vid below of the song “kill me” by Gabe Castro from the Girl Fight soundtrack. It’s pretty dope and features scenes from od-school high school shows like Saved By The Bell and 90210.

If the game’s as awesome as this video, I’m sold.

A Little Bit On The Jet Set Radio HD Side: We showed you the teaser, we told you about the contest where you can have your graffiti in the game, and now we present the first official trailer for the JSR HD re-make headed to Xbox LIVE, PSN, and PC this Summer. Now if only we could get an official sequel.

A Little Bit On The Sleeping Dogs Side: In this upcoming action flick of a game from Square Enix, players will take on the role of an undercover cop infiltrating one of the world’s most deadly criminal organizations, the Hong Kong Triads. The graphics and settings are gorgeous, the combat looks sick, and who doesn’t love a good crime story?

Sleeping Dogs drops later this year.

A Little Bit On The Pokémon Black & White Sequel Side: Pokemon Black & White are officially getting a sequel, only not in the way that you’d expect. It was announced today on Japan’s Pokémon Smash by Pokémon games director, Junichi Masuda, that instead of a third expansion of Black & White, they’re both getting full-on sequels titled Pokémon Black 2 and Pokémon White 2.
In addition, the game’s mascots will be Black Kyurem and White Kyurem, which pretty much look like Zekrom and Reshiram slaughtered a Kyurem and are wearing his carcass as a fancy suit.
Pokémon Black 2 & White 2 are scheduled to drop in Japan this June on the DS. Yeah, we were hoping for 3DS releases too. Ah well.
