Moonrise Kingdom stands as my 2nd favorite Anderson film, behind Rushmore for those curious. I loved everything about it and it was tied with Beasts of the Southern Wild last year as my favorite film(s).

I have a deep love for all things Wes Anderson, even going as far to use him as inspiration for the majority of films I make. I love his visual style and his quirky humor and has funny yet a little sad stories. As a result of this admiration, I find myself collection Anderson items and placing them around my room. This art piece will look perfect on my wall of framed Wes Anderson prints.

Aluminum Wood Casting- Tech Meets Nature in These Beautiful Design

Israeli artist Hilla Shamia manages to create a modern/natural art piece made of aluminum and wood that remains functional while still conjuring a wide range of emotional and ideological triggers. These are gorgeous pieces that can not only stand in a gallery, but also in a home as a table or a seat.

The process involves, and this is by no means an in-depth explanation, pouring the extremely hot aluminum into a casting with the wood at the bottom. The goal is to have as little oxygen in that space as possible and then get the aluminum to cool quick enough. The result is charring instead of burning.

These are aesthetically perfect to me. I would love to have a piece sitting in my office.

Adorable Valentine’s Day Cards for Geeks

I’m not one for Valentine’s day cards (Or any cards for that matter, except Yu-gi-Oh and Pokemon at one point.) but I have to admit, these cards from Paperwheel are pretty cute.

On top of that, they are really nicely designed. I love the texture to the cards. They also do other card designs, all of which feature the great textured look. They are simple and beautiful.

I wonder if they do business cards…

So Much Want: Classic NES Edition 3DS

Sorry if I got your hopes up, but this throwback 3DS is just a fun mockup by Bjørn van der Linden, so don’t expect Nintendo to roll one out any time soon. But if they do, you can bet I’ll be first in line for one, then I’ll be first to complain when the 3DS Lite is announced a month later.

A Little Bit On The Criterion Side: Fake Criterion covers for Noclas Winding Refn’s Drive by midnight marauder. This movie was amazing and it depresses me that none of my friends liked it.

A Little Bit On The Sega Side: Sonic Chaos Emerald Energy Drink packaging concept design by Julie Aniela and Jack Hornblow. The gold ring around the top of each can is a clever touch.

Pixel Galaxy - A Book About The Good Old Times.

Pixel Galaxy is a hyper-classy book by Sergio Ingravalle all about Game Boy games and pixel graphics. Oldschool gamers and geeky graphic design heads might find this book/s use of pixel art and typography border-line erotic.

While Sergio is still looking for a publisher for this project, let’s all cross our fingers and hope that there’s an English version in the works.
