New Hyrule Historia Cover Is Pure Class
Hey, listen! The book detailing the history of The Legend of Zelda just got a new and improved cover. I was able to flip through the Japanese version, and while I wasn’t super impressed, I’ll definitely be picking up the English version. The book more heavily covered the recent games and only had a few pages dedicated to the pre-N64 titles. I’d love to play a magic ocarina to travel back to 1985 and ‘86 while the original game was being developed, but since that’s probably not going to happen, I’ll settle for the few pages of insight this book provides.

Thanks, Jon

A Little Bit on the April Fools Side: Yesterday was April Fools Day, in case you didn’t know. I’m usually good at spotting April Fools gags. But back five or so years ago, EGM totally got me. An article in their magazine said that anyone who pre-ordered The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess would get a disk containing The Wind Waker remade using TP's graphics engine. I'm not gonna lie. I totally went to the local Gamestop and asked about it. Sigh. I like 'toon Link, but why can't this version exist, too?

A Little Bit on the Zelda Model Side: A good part of my teenage years was spent building Gundam models (this one being my favorite). But if I had this kit of Legend of Zelda models, I’d toss those giant robots aside. They look pretty simple - just a few pieces to snap together and a few coats of paint. But c’mon. It’s Zelda.

A Little Bit on the Triforce Cutting Board Side: I enjoy cutting things. With a knife. I’m way too hardcore to use a cutting board, but for the sake of argument, if I were to buy one, it would probably be this one with a Triforce in it. It would give me the courage, power, and wisdom to cut, chop, and dice like no other.

A Little Bit On The Custom Console Side: Ryan Fitzpatrick and Jayrod2 collaborated on this spectacular Legend of Zelda NES casemod complete with hand-cut light-up Link pixel art on the top. Check out a vid of this sexy beast in action here.

A Little Bit on the Hot Liquid Side: This thermally activated mug shows your lifeforce slowly drain as you drink your coffee or tea. Once it turns completely black, you drop dead unless you have a fairy in a bottle in your pocket.

Zelda 3DS Hardware Is Classy
The limited edition Zelda DS Lite was really cool, but this might be even cooler. It has only been announced for Europe, but I’d be surprised if North America didn’t get it at some point (or at least got some sort of Zelda-branded 3DS). Personally I’m waiting for the 3DS Lite though.

Albotas Previews Skyward Sword

Check out our preview of Skyward Sword, straight from Nintendo World. The game looks great, but those controls are way off, even after recalibrating the Wiimote.

Skyward Sword Collector’s Edition is reeling me in
I thought I had gotten past this whole collector’s edition thing. But today Nintendo released info on their next Zelda game’s limited edition bundle. For $70 you get the game, a CD of some Zelda songs played by a symphony, and an awesome gold wiimote. I usually don’t like gold stuff, but that Zelda logo is giving me the vapors. Dammit, Nintendo; I wasn’t even going to buy Skyward Sword at launch! Take my money. No seriously. Just take it.

Albotas Goes to the Zelda Party: Part II

And here’s that video I promised. The prizes were three bundles of Zelda merch: A hat, backpack, and plushy. Make sure you’ve got your audio on - they played some great sound effects during the drawing.

Link Will Eat Your Heart
Everyone was drooling when they saw a T-rated Legend of Zelda game in ‘06. So how about an M-rated one?

Nintendo Gives You Cavities
Candy and videogames are two of my favorite things. I’ve seen soap shaped like NES controllers. Why not chocolate bars? Or a Byrdo candy dispenser that shoots out candy eggs?

If you keep poking and poking, the roosters are sure to strike back en masse. That’s what you get for supporting free-range farms.
