Action and Horror Characters Turn Cutesy Manga
Artist Matsuda Yuusuke turned the likes of Hellraiser, Hellboy, Alien, Robocop, Predator, and Terminator, into some really cute manga characters. Funny how badass these dudes and franchises all are and how rather cute Yuusuke turned them. Comic pages from the artist can be found here and here on the Predator manga, though the dialogue is written in Japanese.
Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Evangelion) Draws Akira
Author of the Evangelion manga series, Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, recently provided artwork for Japan’s Anime Busience magazine in celebration for Akira’s 25th anniversary. I couldn’t find any hi-res images anywhere, but it’s pretty neat to see Sadamoto draw Kaneda for the issue’s cover. Sick stuff.
First Look at Miyazaki’s New Manga
The 72-year-old legend, Hayao Miyazaki, has said to retire after his latest film, The Wind Rises, releases. Well, The Wind Rises was released in June of Japan and will release early next year in the United States, but it seems like Miyazaki is enjoying his “retirement,” by working on something new: a manga based off of samurai in the Warring States era of Japan. No word on this manga releasing soon, but it’s a promising bit of info for those wanting more from Miyazaki, post-directing!
Blurry/Leaked Images of Attack on Titan 3DS Game
In the October issue of Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine, previews of screenshots from the Nintendo 3DS action game inspired by Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan anime/manga were revealed. And holy shit is that exciting to hear.
The game will put players in a story mode, in which Eren and other humans will battle against other Titan giants. The magazine explains that “3D Maneuver Action,” will give the game a scenario in which players will have to rescue captured soldiers and cut off a Titans' arms before they are eaten.
Kotaku’s got some leaked images (above) that look kinda terrible for a 3DS game. We’ll see how it ends up after the game actually drops…
Inside The World Of Otaku Fashion Brand Boomslank
We’ve feature Boomslank on the site a few times over the years. They bring wildly imaginative and original anime inspired art to t-shirts, phone cases, and even art prints.
Here’s a message behind the origins of Boomslank, straight from the Boomslank team:
The word Boomslank is completely made up. The idea behind Boomslank was born out of a strong need to do what makes one happy in life. We started Boomslank because we noticed a lot of the anime tees out there relied heavily on already licensed artwork. There was nothing original out there. So we set out to create an anime brand that was strictly based on original artwork.
So far things are going great and we are really enjoying the journey of trying to follow our dream. And believe me we’ve only just begun our journey.
Definitely check out Boomslank.com to keep up with their latest releases. They even do commissions!

Akira G-Shock Watches
How did I miss these?! They launched late last year and are some of the coolest G-Shocks ever. The top one has the pill logo from Kaneda’s jacket, and on the band are a bar code, and some nice Engrish. The white one has the Akira logo and some Japanese writing on the band.
Check out AwesomeCast Episode 5 where we talk about G-Shocks.
