A Little Bit On The Ladies of SEGA Side: This is a collectible phone strap series featuring ladies from various SEGA titles. I’ve got to be honest, aside from Ulala from Space Channel 5 the chick from Valkyria Chronicles, and Amy from the Sonic games, I barely recognize any of those other chicks.
This gives me an idea, SEGA should make an all-girls fighting game made up of heroines from all their past and present franchises. Like SNK Gals’ Fighter for Neo Geo Pocket Color, but better.

A Little Bit On The Bleach Side: Warner Bros. and Viz Media are teaming up to make a bastardized live-action version of the Bleach manga. Peter Segal will be producing and is in talks to direct, which makes perfect sense since he’s directed such classics as The Longest Yard, Get Smart, and Nutty Professor 2: The Klumps. Not only that, but they’re getting Dan Mazeau (the dude writing the Clash of the Titans sequel) to pen the script.
I’m sure otaku everywhere are thrilled about this. If it’s any consolation, Masi Oka (aka Hiro from Heroes) is one of the producers. That’s pretty cool. I guess.

A Little Bit On The Live Action Akira Side: While the Warner Bros. adaptation may be on hold, French director Fabien Dubois has taken it upon himself to slaughter the classic by casting a generic white dude as a version of Tetsuo who wears a bootleg version of Kaneda’s jacket. Does no one get this movie?

A Little Bit On the Akira Side: So, the live-action Akira remake has been put on temporary hold, but that shouldn’t stop you from living our your own live-action Akira fantasies! To celebrate Akria’s 30th anniversary, Bandai is selling a fer-realz version of Kaneda’s sweet red leather jacket for a paltry 69,800 yen (685 euros/900 U.S. dollars). Seems like they’re sold out at the moment, but they still have some of the not-as-awesome graphicless black ones left

I kind of want one just so I can run around screaming “TETSUOOOOO!!!!” to the top of my lungs in crowded public places.

[Review] Gantz 2: Perfect Answer

Gantz is back, and this time he’s recruiting some of his old graduates.

Picking up about 3 months after the first movie (which we reviewed here), Gantz 2: Perfect Answer begins to forge its own path separate from the anime and manga that it’s based on. There’s still the creepy, bald, comatose dude in a giant black ball that brings people back from the dead and forces them to go on alien assassination missions. There’s still points given out after each mission that members can use to either resurrect fallen comrades or go back to their normal lives. There’s still the awkward, unspoken (albeit unintentional) man-lust between the main character Kei and his BFF Kato. And there’s still those awesome leather power suits and action scenes that you’ll want to re-watch and show off to all your friends.
