REVIEW - CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER
Guess who saw an early screening of Winter Soldier and had his mind completely blown away. This guy.
Not sure if this is real or fake, but as more and more countries get their advance screenings of Winter Soldier, it seems like the scene of Cap’s to-do list that was posted last week has been tweaked for different territories. Makes sense to have different cultural references for different cultures. Above is a shot from the Korean version listing Dance Dance Revolution, Oldboy, and Ji-Sung Park. The version shown in England reportedly includes The Beatles, Sean Connery, and 1966 World Cup while the Colombian version apparently listed Shakira, of all things.
Here’s a ginormous street art mural of Thanos and Carnage wearing what looks like the robe Rocky wore to the ring. The full piece features the handywork of Merlyn, Kooltaste, Hose, Stom500, Uncle Ho, DarkElixir, Jack El Diablo, and Wise.
Check out a snazzily edited video of the creation of the piece below.

Here’s a screenshot from Captain America: The Winter Soldier showing Cap’s to-do list. Poor dude. Frozen for nearly 70 years, there’s a lot he has to catch up on like Thai food, educating himself on the ups and downs of the Berlin wall, and apparently he’s unsure about Rocky II. At least he got Star Wars out of the way.
Sheesh, Steve! You should put buy a smartphone on that list because there’s totally an app for keeping track of all that stuff. Christ, you could knock that list out in a few days ON a smartphone!
Captain America: The Winter Soldier hits theaters April 4 and shoe & toy customizer extraordinaire Sekure D (check out our video interview with him here) went all out on a pair of Jordan 6’s and embellished them with all the iconic details of the O.G. Captain America suit. At first glance I though these were a legit licensing crossover which is a true testament to the artist’s skills and super clean lines.
Sidenote: Anyone catching the early premiere of Winter Soldier going on in select cities tomorrow?
9 Thoughts on Superhero Films In a Post-Avengers Industry
I understand completely that Hollywood will continue to create comic book and superhero-related films. I get that they’re going to be blockbusters, regardless of the hero and studios involved, as well as the producers, directors, and even casting calls.
You may or may not have noticed the impact The Avengers has had on every other super hero film being announced or prepping its release. In case you haven’t noticed, consider the fact that we’re seeing a Fantastic Four and X-Men crossover film, Wonder Woman is being introduced in the upcoming Batman and Superman film, and we’re seeing a huge surge of villains in the upcoming Spider-Man sequels.
Here’s some thoughts on a post-Avengers Hollywood, how it’s affected superhero movies, and how it’s going to continue to pull in more unbelievable hype.
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Trailer
Rhino, Electro, Green Goblin. Tween romance. Wowza. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 hits theaters May 2014.
'Agents of SHIELD' Doing A 'Thor' Crossover Episode
On November 19, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will center around the aftermath of events that take place in Thor: The Dark World. The episode, titled “The Well,” will be directed by Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: The Next Generation) and feature appearances by some C-listers from Thor, but no Chris Hemsworth or his insanely sculpted arms.
I’ve included some sassy GIFs of Chloe Bennet a.k.a. Skye for no other reason than she’s my favorite character on the show. Doesn’t she look like she smells pretty? Also, there’s some speculation that she might eventually become Spider-Woman.
Any readers watch this show? I was kind of “meh” on it at first, but I was really digging the last two episodes and can’t wait to see where the story goes from here on out. Also, Skye.
Here’s The Trailer for Captain America: Winter Soldier
Here’s the trailer that was teased yesterday. I’ll admit, I always thought the straight-laced old timey WWII hijinks of the first Captain America flick came off as a bit hokey. It’s no fault of the film, really. That’s just part of the characters story and it never really resonated with me. But teaming him up with S.H.I.E.L.D. on hi-tech espionage missions? Yeah, I can totally get down with this. Also, Black Widow. Hhnnnggg! Needs more Coulson, though.
Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think.
Loki Will Be Bisexual In Upcoming Marvel Title
Regarding the upcoming Marvel comic Loki: Agent of Asgard, writer Al Ewing posted on his blog “Yes, Loki is bi and I’ll be touching on that. He’ll shift between genders occasionally as well.”
It pretty much makes sense since the Loki of Norse mythology was a shapeshifting slut who got it on with anyone and anything.
If you listen closely enough, you can hear the sound of millions of undersexed fangirls, fanboys and slash fiction writers squealing with delight. Al Ewing must be completely aware of Tumblr’s Loki tag. I wonder if he’s aware of these pervy Loki mousepads.
Here’s A Teaser Trailer For The Teaser Trailer Of Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Trailers for trailers are stupid, but we’re posting ‘em anyway because the Marvel cinematic universe is just plain rad and Black Widow’s new hair-do is super sexy. Not as sexy as those curls in Iron Man 2, but still pretty damn sexy.
The REAL teaser trailer debuts tomorrow. We’ll keep you posted on any developments regarding Black Widow’s hair in the meantime.
Super Realistic Wolverine Action Figure From Hot Toys
This 1/6 scale Wolverine figure from Hot Toys is based on Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of the character, comes with 5 different pairs of hands including both bone and metal claws, two outfits (I’m calling one Mad Max and the other Sexy Time), and an engraved metal Japanese sword.
No price or release date yet, but this thing is crazy. More pics after the jump.
The highly anticipated, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., premiered on Tuesday night to many mixed feelings from critics and fans alike. The show was screened to an amazing 11.9 million television viewers, which isn’t surprising considering the massive amount of hype the show has garnered since The Avengers blew up box offices. Its director, Joss Whedon, has done nothing but gather attention toward this show, showing it off as a cool new television series to correspond the aftermath of the first Avengers movie, and introduce a new cast of heroes who handle the smaller stuff the big guys, like Hulk and Captain America, don’t.
Joss Whedon, his brother Jed Whedon, and Jed’s wife Maurissa Tancharoen, all worked together to craft a television show of minor spy action and X-Files type dilemmas. The show takes place in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, brings back Agent Colson, and is sure to gather even more momentum by its second episode. But overall, the pilot was just…okay.
