WSJ: PlayStation 4 to Stream PlayStation 3 Games
The Wall Street Journal has revealed that an unnamed source “familiar” with Sony’s plans with the Playstation 4 claims that the next console will be able to stream PlayStation 3 games. This is very interesting news, as it’s been swirling around that the PlayStation 4 will not be accepting used games. This may be the way around not pissing everyone off.
Joystiq’s report suggest “that online streaming of current PS3 games will be paired with new games sold on optical media through regular channels.” A good solution to not having backwards compatibility? Maybe.
Announcements from Sony regarding the PlayStation will be on the 20th. Stay tuned to Albotas for more on the next generation console.

An Interesting Article on What Sony Should Do to Succeed With the PS4
Earlier this week, I wrote about a rumor that Edge broke news on. That rumor stated that Microsoft will not be allowing playable used games for their next console. There were a couple of other things mentioned in that write-up with the next Microsoft system, but hardly any of the 5,000+ notes on Tumblr had any opinion or 2 cents on those other new features, such as the console’s new blu-ray format, or the new Kinect being bundled with the next Xbox.
Well, in case some of you weren’t aware already, Sony has patented technology that could very well stop the use of used games on their next console. It’s also been rumored for the last two years that both Sony and Microsoft will indeed be stopping used games from being playable at all on their next gen consoles.
Also, for those of you upset with this tactic and think that neither company would ever do this: stop being naive. They’re both companies who need money. That’s what they do. Simple as that.
Steam does it now. You cannot sell or lend out a previously purchased PC game you have bought from Steam. Same idea here, except with consoles. Granted, neither Microsoft or Sony price their digital games low enough to make me want to purchase them online as opposed to handling physical copies, but I’m sure that would change in the future gen of consoles. Hopefully…
And stop kidding yourselves — you’re not going to buy a Wii U if Microsoft or Sony “betrayed” you. You weren’t planning on that ever. Most of you have jobs and can afford more than one console, so I don’t see the need for elitism with sticking with one system for one entire generation of video game systems when you can simply buy another.
So now I’m going to make this perfectly clear before I go on with saying this. I’ll even bold this next statement, as to not confuse some of you with this post.
It’s rumored that the next PlayStation will not be backwards compatible and the next Xbox might not be either. Veteran gaming journalist, Chris Morris, speculates that the new technology being brought onto both upcoming systems will not allow either console to achieve that task.
Reading some headlines on Kotaku this afternoon, I found this article I’d really like you all to take the time and read, written by Chris Morris. The article goes in-depth into explaining what exactly needs to be accomplished for Sony to succeed with their upcoming PlayStation 4 console. Pretty damn great ideas and a very realistic look on what Sony will be doing with their upcoming console. Read it here. It’ll get you pumped, from a business aspect at least.
And yes, rumors are rumors. But sometimes they can be true. Sometimes.
We may know more about the PlayStation 4 in less than two weeks. Sony has planned a press conference for February 20, and many speculate it’s for the PlayStation 4.

A Little Bit on the Rumor Side: OK, so I know a guy who knows a guy who works for Capcom. According to him, a new (and I use that term liberally) Strider game is on the table. Capcom wants to release something in 2015 (yes, with a five at the end), but there are no solid plans yet. In other words, it could be Strider 3, some sort of Strider HD Remix, or something totally different. All I know - and all Capcom knows, apparently - is that they want to put out something with “Strider” in its title. Like I said, this is coming from a guy who got it from another guy, so take it with a grain of salt.

Zone of the Enders 3 Coming to 3DS?
Hideo Kojima has been asking his coworkers and Twitter followers what this image is. My first reaction was “It’s the Jehuty Revoltech figure. Duh.” Then I looked in the background. I wasn’t planning on getting a 3DS until the 3DS Lite comes out, but if this is true, it might happen a bit sooner.

Uglydoll Movie in the Works
Yep, you read that right. Vinyl Pulse are reporting that the studio behind Despicable Me will be creating a movie based on David Horvath’s and Sun-Min Kim’s Uglydoll franchise. Hopefully this doesn’t suck uglyballs. I wonder if there will be a Happy Meal toy deal.

[Big Fat Rumor] Apparently these are screenshots of Pikmin 3 and Endless Ocean 3 running on Nintendo’s as-of-yet unannounced next gen console, codenamed Project Cafe, but you can make up your own minds. We’ll just have to wait until E3 to see if this is true!

Is this Nintendo’s rumored Project Cafe? (click here to embiggen)
The Internet’s been buzzing with talk of Nintendo announcing a new console at this year’s E3 and this picture could be it. This matches the rumors that the new console has a touch screen on the controller with a front-facing camera.
While Nintendo would never admit it because they “don’t comment on rumors or speculation,” this seems pretty legit. This also proves that all that "disruptive marketing" stuff Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-Aime was talking about back in 2005 may have paid off.
Think about it: in six short years Nintendo carved out the “casual gaming” market, forced Sony and Microsoft to invest millions in creating and marketing their own motion control technology, and just as all the hype surrounding Kinnect and Move starts to die out, Nintendo fires the first shot in an all new console war.
It’s all pretty interesting stuff that should be interesting to watch unfold. Here’s some Project Cafe rumors that Destructoid recently posted up:
Square Enix, Capcom, Sega, Konami, Activision, Rockstar/Take Two, Electronic Arts, Namco and Ubisoft have development kits, and all have at least one game in the works.
Nintendo may not launch with any first party games, as it plans to really support third parties this time.
It won’t have “Wii” in its name.
Third party support extends to hardware, with a better storage solution being developed.
Better download service.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword may launch at the same time as Project Cafe. This could lead to another Twilight Princess situation.
Hideo Kojima has been mentioned in conjunction with the system.
Retro is working on a title that “everybody wants.” It’s been suggested that it could be Eternal Darkness 2.
A Resident Evil game is in the works (when isn’t one in the works?)
A StarFox title is being worked on.
Grand Theft Auto V will be a Project Cafe title in addition to everything else.
Keep in mind this is all just hearsay at this point, but it’s a pretty safe bet that we’ll get some facts this June at E3.

Feast your eyes on the as-of-yet unconfirmed Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition. If this winds up being the real deal, it’ll include the following:
Carpe Nukem Statue
Duke Nukem Dice
Duke Nukem Branded Playing Cards and Poker Chips
History, Legacy, and Legend of Duke Nukem Forever art book
Duke Nukem Forever Comic Book
Four Duke Nukem Postcards
Certificate of Authenticity
The game (duh!)
Just keep in mind that this hasn’t been confirmed, so it could just be an old prototype mock-up or something. All we know is, we’ve waited nearly 14 years for this game, so if there’s no awesome collector’s edition… there will be nerd hell to pay! And that’s the worst possible kind.

RUMOR: Nintendo 3DS Gong On Sale November 20th!
A product designer from Japan let some pretty big news slip on his Twitter account, saying:
On November 20th, the 11 goods I designed for use with the 3DS will go on sale simultaneously. Those of you buying the 3DS, please buy them while you’re at it! This will be officially announced on the homepage eventually, lol. Best regards.
Assuming this is true, November 20th will most likely be the Japanese release date, but let’s not count our Pokémon eggs before they hatch.

Big Fat F**king Rumor: Black & White Starter Evolutions.
Here’s some pics of what the new starter Pokes from Pokemon Black & White may or  may not actually look like.
These pics were posted on Serebii who says:

Normally, I wouldn’t post something like this but the circumstances behind the post has encouraged me to do it. A short time ago, a user posted on the Japanese forum 2ch various images of what are allegedly the evolutions of the starter Pokémon; Tsutarja, Pokabu & Mijumaru. This post was placed upon 2ch’s Siberia board where leaks have come in the past. For example, the starters names, Professor Araragi, Team Plasma and both Triple & Rotation Battles were posted there back in April, way before they were included in CoroCoro. As 2ch publically logs the IP, I was able to trace the IP of the posters of both rumours to the same area of Japan running on the same ISP, which in itself isn’t significant but does add credence to this. These images are NOT CONFIRMED AT ALL so don’t take them as fact yet. However, due to the circumstances stated above, I am going to post them. Just remember that these are not confirmed and may very well turn out to be fake. We’ll bring more on this as and when it comes

What’s interesting is how closely the 2nd evolution of the water guy matches some concept art for the upcoming anime that was leaked (and proven to be credible) a while back.
And as one clever 4chan poster notes, these dealies sorta’ look like edits/ripoffs of older Pokemon designs:

What do you dudes think?
Are they real or fake?
Are they rad?
Do they make you want to vomit on strangers?
What should we name them? I’ve seen some cool names like Smuglord for the grass dude, Gnarlywol & Samurot for the water guy’s 2nd & 3rd evos, and Volsumo for the fire piggie dude.
