Boosted Boards - The Lightest Electric Longboards Ever

I’m 28 years old. My leg-bones can’t handle landing skate tricks like they used to, but every now and then I get the urge to skate to work. I’ve been debating scooping a decent longboard and I think the fine peeps over at Boosted Boards have just what I’m looking for. Their electric longboards are just 12lbs., making them world’s lightest electric vehicles, they get about 6 miles out of a single charge, and they can hit speeds of up to 20MPH. The only downside is they’re a bit pricey. $1200 is no joke.

Video: Two Dudes, One Skateboard
Watch Kilian Martin and Alfredo Urbon tear it up together on a custom board built for two. Okay, so it’s really an Smart Car ad, but it’s still awesome, so watch!

And while you’re at it, check out the making-of spot.

It’s pretty much a well-known fact that Globe’s Bantam Cruiser boards are the proverbial shiznit. Although summer’s almost over, there’s still time to cruise your streets during the fall before snow starts to drop. These all new clear versions of the popular boards are by far their sickest yet — expecially that Albotas blue one!

If Santa Cruz Was A Video Game Company
Here’s an awesome twist on the Screaming Hand logo designed back in 1973 by Jim Phillips for Santa Cruz Skateboards. This geeky remix was designed by Derin Ciler a.k.a. MEKAZOO and it’s currently up for voting on Threadless. Go vote!

New tokidoki Gear: Shirts, Hats, and Decks

I was pretty bummed out by the not-so-cool dude-shirt designs that tokidoki released a month or two ago. But they’ve redeemed themselves already with some awesome new designs, especially the Spider-Man hoodie with some Japanese writing on it. My head is way too big for hats, but some of the new ones are pretty cool. And those new skate decks are just too nice to do boardslides on. I’m just hoping tokidoki eventually start giving back attention to their original characters rather than creating a majority of Marvel stuff.

Custom Skateboards by Jeff Beck

Jeff Beck sent us these pics of some customs boards he did for the Grind skateboard art show at the Center for Visual Artists in Greensboro, NC which kicked off this past weekend. As huge fans of sugar skull girls, Nintendo, Ultraman, and skateboarding, we fully support these radical shenanigans.

Speaking of sugar skulls, Nintendo, and Ultraman, check out these sweet prints from Jonathan Koshi.

Bart Simpson Would Be Proud

Skateboards and spray cans often go hand in hand, but not like this. These dudes rigged remote controlled spray paint cans to the bottom of skateboards so that a trail of paint can be traced out by the board’s movements through the pool. Genius!

The dudes at Smash Tokyo Toys have a new skate deck out featuring their flaship toy, Seismic Ace on 8 1/4” maple hardwood. Get it HERE. We hear it’s what all the cool kids are skating on these days.
The deck is available from a cool site I’d never heard of before called Board Pusher. It’s basically like Cafe Press or Redbubble, but for skate decks. Pretty cool if you’re looking to get your own art on a skateboard.

This video just de-rezzed my brain

A small team built a mini-ramp for the premiere of Tron Legacy. Oh, and they also created a particle effects generator that works in conjunction with accelerometers and infrared censors. The skaters’ motions were tracked and Tron-like particle effects followed them across the ramp. The iPod Touches given to the skaters also measured airtime and the projector would display the airtime upon landing. So cool. It would be nearly impossible on a small-ish budget, but it would have been awesome if a silhouette of a fallen skater could be created and projected right where he bailed, then slowly de-rezzed and faded away.
