Skrillex Has A Video Game And It’s Awesome
It’s easy to hate on Skrillex since hating popular things just seems to be the status quo these days, but no matter which side of the Skrillex/dubstep fence you stand on, this game is definitely worth checking out.
The heavily 8-bit inspired Skrillex Quest mixes hints of Zelda, Journey, Ico, and Sword & Sworcery with trippy, glitchy, epileptic shock-inducing graphics. And, yes, it’s set to a Skrillex track (but it’s more chill and trance-y compared to his more violently wubby stuff) and uses iconic cues from his arsenal of songs as sound effects. If all that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, just mute it, but it definitely adds to the overall experience.
The whole game can be completed in around 20 minutes. Check it out for free at SkrillexQuest.com.
It’s also worth mentioning that this was made by Jason Oda, the same guy who made the incredible Flash game based on one of my favorite 80’s sitcoms, Perfect Strangers.

![We’re Giving Away A Pair Of FreeFest Tickets! [CONTEST]
Are you a person with ears that enjoy being filled with the sounds of righteousness like Das Racist, Santigold, Ben Folds Five, Jack White, Nas, M83, ZZ Top, Alabama Shakes, Skrillex, and Portugal, The Man? Then, hey! Guess what? We’re totally giving away tickets to a thing you’ll probably like!
We did it last year and we’re doing it again this year. Click the pic up top to find out how to win a pair of tickets to Virgin Mobile FreeFest, an all-day festival of sights and sounds dedicated to helping youth homelessness. It’s also a good place to get sweaty and weird with a mob of total strangers.
If you win, just be sure to stop me at the venue to say thank you in person. Not doing so would just be rude.](http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_mavnrmK15v1qbg80vo1_500.jpg)
