So, NASA Found A Space Invader
Prepare the laser canons! NASA’s Hubble Telescope scoped out a harbinger of death and destruction headed right for Earth!

NASA explains that the gravitational field surrounding the galaxies works like a magnifying glass, brightening and stretching light from far away. So you’re seeing stretched and mirrored images—a phenomenon known as gravitational lensing—that just happens to look like a space invader.

That’s what they WANT you to think!

Rad Video Game Books At IndieCade East

Museum of the Moving Image in NYC has a pretty awesome gift shop with a hefty selection of books on all sorts of stuff the typical Albotian would be in to: movies, art, and of course, video games.

I had a pretty tough time deciding on which book to get, but I wound up going with Nintendo Magic mainly because I like the face Satoru Iwata is making in the picture up top. I kind of regret the decision because it’s only $7.98 on Amazon (only 2 left in stock as I write this!), but whatevs.

Any readers out there have any of the other books pictured? If so, let us know how they are in the comments.

Epic Space Invaders LED Light Show

An onslaught of Space Invaders touched down in Toronto thanks to the creative prowess of French lighting designer Yves Caizergues. Luckily, no one got shot with lasers as the Invaders just danced around with happy faces.

Ohio State University Video Game Halftime Show

A Buckeyes vs. Huskers football game is probably the last place I’d expect to see a halftime show tribute to video games. Ohio State University Marching Band’s musical medley is pretty ace on its own. But then you factor in the amount of choreography needed to create all those moving images and you’ve got yourself one hypnotizing halftime show, putting Ohio over Nebraska in more ways than one.

This Space Invaders watch is liable to blow your mind and drain your wallet.
Swiss luxury watch company RJ-Romain Jerome definitely made these for people with deep pockets in mind. The case is black PVD stainless steel, the face window is sapphire crystal, and it’s water resistant to 30 meters. And since Space Invaders first landed in arcades back in 1978, it’s only fitting that each of these watches are limited to just 78 pieces.
No release date or price has been announced yet, but it’s safe to say they’ll be super expensive considering this is the same company who’s made watches from pieces of the Titanic, moon dust, fragments of the Apollo XI, and rock & ash from the Eyjafjallajökull volcano.
