A Little Bit on the OMG It’s a New Arcade Shmup Side: Just when you thought Cave was ready to - uh - cave, they announce that their mystery game, DoDonPachi Saidaiohjou is indeed a new arcade shooter. The game will be location tested in the near future and hit the arcades at some point later in the year. Hopefully there will be a 360 port, but I don’t think we’ll hear anything about that for several months at the least.

A Little Bit on the iOS Side: So here it is: the trailer of Cave’s newest iOS shooter. If it looks familiar, that’s because it is. It’s a port of 2002’s DoDonPachi: Dai Ou Jou. The game is super challenging - I think I’ve only gotten to the fourth level boss - so you better buy insurance for your iThing before playing this and throwing your phone at the wall. It will be out next month.

A Little Bit on the Shmup Side: What’s this? A Cave shooter is getting a physical release in North America? Yep. Rising Star, who published a PAL version of DoDonPachi: Daifukkatsu are expanding to North America and their first gift to us is horizontal shooter, Akai Katana Shin. This is Cave’s weakest shmup in a while, so I’ll be more than happy to buy this release rather than the real deal Japanese version.

A Little Bit on the Insect Side: Cave have finally set a release date for the iOS port of Mushihimesama.  On Dec. 15 you can buy it for around $5. This is the original game from the series, not Futari, the sequel. So if you don’t want to spend $80 on the PS2 port, this might be a good compromise.

A Little Bit on the Warm Neck Side: It’s a shame that shipping charges from Cave’s official US store are ridiculous because they’ve got this Dai-Fukkatsu scarf just in time for bullet hell to freeze over into winter.
