Totoro Makes Everything OK
In case you needed some cute in your day, here’s a photo of a little girl getting a kick out of the Totoro window display at the Studio Ghibli museum. This moment was caught on camera by vinyl toy designer, Martin Hsu.

Studio Ghibli Meets Street Fighter
What would happen if there were an 8-Bit fighter for the NES called Spirit Fighter featuring different characters from Studio Ghibli movies? Planet earth would be way more awesome, that’s what!
Too bad it’s not a real game, but it’s a sweet shirt designed by Drew Wise and you can get it from The Yetee for just $11. Then wear it while you learn how to make a game exactly like this so I can play the living potatoes out of it.

Ninostarter: Kickstarter for Ni no Kuni
Studio Ghibli and Level 5's upcoming PS3 game Ni no Kuni is getting a pretty awesome Wizard Edition (ie: limited edition) release. When it was announced in June, Namco Bandai said it would come with a spell book, plushy, and some DLC. Now thanks to the game’s own pseudo-Kickstarter - measured in pre-orders - it will also come with five art prints. If the new goal is met, it will come with a gold coin replica. Pre-order this frickin’ game.
Tiny Totoro Dreams Jewelry Box
I don’t own much jewelry, but damn is this box pretty awesome. Little Creations by Etsy user The Bird and The Bee recently posted this cool Totoro jewelry box, featuring creatures from the beloved Miyazaki film, My Neighbor Totoro. Check the images in hi res to see how tiny these little models are inside of the actual box. It’s amazing to notice how small those painted eyes are. They’ve also got a big Studio Ghibli collection of jewelry to check out as well, for those interested.
Ni no Kuni Limited Edition up for Pre-order
The game’s Western release is almost a year away, but I’ve already thrown down my $99.99 for this amazing limited edition of the game. Yup - $99.99. That’s a lot of money, even for a limited edition, but this time I think it’s worth it. The “wizard edition” of the RPG co-created by Studio Ghibli and Level-5 will include a hardcover version of the spell book used by the protagonist, as well as a plush version of his pal, Drippy.
If I remember correctly, the DS version of the game required players to use a similar physical spell book to progress through the game. It doesn’t seem like this has been worked into the PS3 version, but it’s still a very cool bonus. The real treat is Drippy, and there will also be two DLC characters included in the bundle.
Side Note: The pre-order page mentions that the Western release of the game will contain both English and Japanese voice over tracks - good news for people who prefer hearing bad voice acting that they can’t understand rather than bad voice acting that they can understand.
Get it exclusively through Namco Bandai.
Localized Ni no Kuni Delayed to 2013
Bad news, Ghibli fans. The English-language version of Level-5’s and Studio Ghibli’s Ni no Kuni has been delayed until sometime next year. You can’t complain too much though. The fact that this game is even getting a localization is a miracle. And as a consolation, you get an awesome trailer.
Studio Ghibli & Level 5’s Ni No Kuno Gets An English Trailer!
I’m kind of bummed that this is delayed until next year, but this trailer totally makes up for it. I’ve sort of been burnt out on the gaming industry lately and have just been batching up on older stuff since nothing new has really been hyping me up. But THIS. This has me hype.
Now we just need word on the English DS version.
A Little Bit on the Ocarina Side: Sometimes at night, if you listen real hard, you can hear Totoro playing his ocarina from atop a tree. Here’s an extended range ocarina with a Totoro logo and even a tiny sculpt of the fluffy troll thing himself. One is on eBay right now for $215.
