This is an excellent interview executed by game journalist, Adam Sessler, in which he speaks with Alexey Pajitnov, creator of Tetris, on how the game started, how he busted through the industry, and his relation to Russia’s gaming industry at the time, versus America’s industry.

Ohio State University Video Game Halftime Show

A Buckeyes vs. Huskers football game is probably the last place I’d expect to see a halftime show tribute to video games. Ohio State University Marching Band’s musical medley is pretty ace on its own. But then you factor in the amount of choreography needed to create all those moving images and you’ve got yourself one hypnotizing halftime show, putting Ohio over Nebraska in more ways than one.

Pure Adventure, Pure Imagination, and Pure Cognition

Vanessa Zucker, frequent contributor to PixelDrip, created these laser wood cuts of Castlevania Adventure, Super Mario Land, and Tetris. Each of the wood blocks is around the same size as a hefty, old school Game Boy. Her work will be on display during the Southern California Classic Collectors (SC3) show at Gallery Nucleus in Alhambra, California this coming October 1st.

Freddie’s Video Game Acoustic Medley (NSFW)

Take one guitar virtuoso, a bunch of fantastic game themes (Zelda, Mario RPG, the Chocobo theme and then some) and mash them together; out of the wreck rolls this awesome two-and-a-half minute medley.
