'The Walking Dead' Mid-season Finale Compared To The Comics
SPOILER ALERT: Shit goes down. Also, sorry for completely ruining the mid-season finale if you haven’t already seen it (Why haven’t you seen it yet!?). Here’s a side-by-side comparison of scenes from episode 408 and issues 46-48 of the comics. Pretty cool to see how close they stuck to the books even though the Governor should have showed up with the tank at the end of season three, but it’s major discrepancies like that keep the show fresh and make it its own unique beast.
The Walking Dead Season 3 Limited Edition Blu-Ray Case Might Scare Small Children
This is awesome for a few reasons.
It lights up
It can actually be filled with water so the heads float
It was designed by muthafuckin’ Todd McFarlane!
McFarlane also designed the Season 2 Limited Edition case, but this trumps it in pretty much every way. I’m totally putting little Santa hats on my zombie heads and making the whole into a snow globe for Christmas.
Check out MTV Geekfor a bunch more pictures and some video clips.
Gameplay Trailer & Release Date For That ‘Walking Dead’ FPS
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct follows the Dixon boys, Daryl and Merle, as they fight for survival and kill dead things while trekking through the Georgia countryside. Both characters are also voiced by their AMC TV series actors, Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker.
In addition to the all the undead-slaying action, the game will also feature a survival element where you’ll have to scrounge for food, water, and supplies to stay alive. Kind of like The Hatchet or Castaway, only in a post-zombie-apocalypse setting.
Both GameStop and Amazon have their own exclusive DLC pre-order packs, but the GameStop version also comes with a severed ear keychain if you’re into that sort of thing. Check it:
GameStop Herd Mode Challenge – How many frenzied flesh-eaters can you survive against before joining their ranks? Take on endless waves of walkers, each more dangerous than the last, in the all-new Herd Mode. Each wave of undead held off brings with it a new outbreak of hungry biters and new opportunities to rack up an even higher score.
Amazon Walker Execution Pack – Give yourself an edge (or five) with this ‘unique’ weapon kit. The Amazon Walker Execution Pack adds multiple melee options to your arsenal, including a survival knife, sawtoothed machete, kukri, reinforced hatchet, and advanced machete. With ammo scarce and the undead attracted to loud noises, a sharp, silent blade might just be your most trusted companion.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct drops March 19, 2013 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC. The WiiU version arrives March 26.
Telltale Releasing ‘The Walking Dead' Collector's Edition This December
This limited edition retail version of the game will contain all five episodes of the game’s first season which were originally released separately as digital titles along with The Walking Dead Compendium One - over 1,000 pages collecting issues 1-48 or the Walking Dead comics. It even has an exclusive cover with artwork by Charlie Adlard. All this can be yours for $69.99 when it drops December 4 in North America.
A standard edition will also be available for just $29.99.
What time is it? Zombie killing time!!! Vannen’s Walkers 2.0 watch is officially on sale as of right now! The first edition of this watch sold out in minutes and crashed their servers, so get on this before it’s too late and you hate yourself forever.
This time around, the timepiece is bloodier and cheaper at only $75. To make it even more awesome, the packaging is signed by Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman!
Michonne Revealed For Third Season Of AMC’s ‘Walking Dead’.
Everyone’s favorite dreadlocked, samurai sword-wielding, zombie pet-keeping bad-ass from the comics will be slicing and dicing through your TV sets in the upcoming third season of Walking Dead on AMC. This pic from Entertainment Weekly reveals Michonne will be played by Danai Gurira (Treme).
As for why they cast the relatively unknown Danai Gurira for the pivotal role, Kirkman says, “We looked at a lot of talented people that were really fantastic, but we were waiting for that one spark, that moment where everyone was completely in agreement and completely excited, and we felt like we had found the essence of this fictional character that just randomly appeared in another person, and that person was Danai Gurira. She kind of came in and really just blew us all away. She’s got incredible presence, and she’s got a theater background, and is very physical, and was just perfect for the role.”
If this single pic is any indication, Gurira will do a fine job of bringing Michonne to life, but I think this is the pic fans REALLY want to see brought to life:
Heavy Rain with zombies. That’s the best way to sum up Telltale Games’ The Walking Dead: A New Day - the first episode of five planned installments. When you first hear the phrase “Walking Dead video game,” your brain automatically dreams up something more akin to the Resident Evil franchise: conserving ammo and blasting away rotting dead things. Instead, Telltale focused on what lies at the very heart of Walking Dead: moral conflict and character interaction. If you’re looking for a mindless shoot-em-up gorefest, this is NOT the game for you.
[AWESOME] Quality voice acting, expressive character design that brings the comic’s art style to life, branching paths that will have you wanting to replay chapters more than once.
[NOT AWESOME] Fixed camera angles make walking around cumbersome at times, branching dialogue trees don’t always give you enough time to read all the choices before answering and sometimes your answers won’t register.
Season 2 of The Walking Dead premieres this Sunday, so now is the best time to catch up with Jesse Pynigar’s compilation video of every zombie death from the previous season. For some reason I expected it to be longer, but then I remembered the season was only six episodes long.
Two Walking Dead Board Games are coming. Family game night is about to get hella’ bloody. Z-Man Games will be releasing a 6-player version based on the comics this summer while Cryptozoic Entertainment is making a version based on the TV show that also lets you play as a zombie after you’ve been infected. Both games are set to be priced at $39.99.
Not much is known about how either of these games will play, but I hope to God there’s a “cut off your arm in real life or you lose" card.
