This movie is fucking amazing in every way. I think it might have been one of my first favorite movies ever back when I was still rocking underoos as a wee sprout.
EDIT: This was supposed to go on my personal Tumblr, but I’m leaving it here because fuck yeah.
Also, did you know there was a Big Trouble In Little China video game? It was only for the Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, so I never got to play it, but after checking out the screenshot below, I really want to.

A Little Bit On The Community Side: Good news, everybody! Community is coming back! The show’s creator, Dan Harmon tweeted the following:

What you call 8:00, we call home. Community returns to Thursday nights on March 15th.

And all was right with the world.

A Little Bit On The Adventures of Pete & Pete Side: Splitsider has an awesome article up about one of the greatest Nickelodeon shows of all time. Did you know that it was originally supposed to be about a boy named Pete and his dog of the same name? Or that the movie Snow Day was originally supposed to be a Pete & Pete flick?

The Adventures of Pete & Pete remains a gleaming paragon of this DIY/indie/punk-integrated-into-children’s-programming mentality.
“It was that downtown Manhattan sensibility,” said Katherine Dieckmann (that’s “Deekman,” to you), who originally worked with her Pete & Pete cohorts to create the show, would later have her hand in more episodes than any other director of the series and bestowed upon the program that “pre-Emo/hipster/indie” sensibility it has become known for.

A Little Bit On The Live Action Akira Side: While the Warner Bros. adaptation may be on hold, French director Fabien Dubois has taken it upon himself to slaughter the classic by casting a generic white dude as a version of Tetsuo who wears a bootleg version of Kaneda’s jacket. Does no one get this movie?

A Little Bit On The Sith Side: Darth Maul hosts Thoughts From The Dark Side, where he muses on scenes from Episode I and gives shout outs to the top BriskSaber player on the leader board each and every Tuesday for a month. To see your name on a future episode, fire up your fingersabers and use The Force by downloading the BriskSaber App from the iTunes Store or Android Market. Learn more at UncapTheApp.com.

A Little Bit On The Prometheus Side: Here’s a new international teaser trailer for Ridley Scott’s prequel to Alien where Charlize Theron looks like Zero Suit Samus. Prometheus hits theaters June 8th, 2012.

A Little Bit On The Lego Graffiti Side: This sick little stop motion video of a LEGO man getting up on a train was made for a school project by Elvisistnochamleben. The photo snaps at the end are a nice subtle touch.

A Little Bit On The Trippy Sci-Fi Side: This trailer for Beyond The Black Rainbow is like what would happen if Stanley Kubrick dropped mad acid and directed his own remixed film adaptation of the Portal games.

Beyond the Black Rainbow, written and directed by Panos Cosmatos, is a Reagan-era fever dream inspired by hazy childhood memories of midnight movies and Saturday morning cartoons. Cosmatos brings a bold, Kubrickian vision to the screen in stunning detail in this sci-fi fable of a young woman imprisoned in an experimental laboratory and the enigmatic scientist who is her captor. Set in a futuristic 1983, Elena finds herself held against her will in a mysterious facility under the watchful eye of the sinister Dr. Barry Nyle. Pushed to her limits, Elena is left with no choice but to navigate an escape from her labyrinthine prison, in the process revealing its hidden secrets.

Idunno about you guys, but this is the first trailer since Moon that’s had me this pumped for an honest-to-goodness, non-CG-filled science fiction flick.

A Little Bit On The HOLY SHIT IT’S FINALLY HAPPENING!!! Side: Mattel is making official replicas of the hoverboard from Back to the Future! You feel that? That’s your 12-year-old self’s erection poking you through the fabric of the spacetime continuum. Unless you’re a lady, in which case: that’d just be weird.

This totally awesome 1:1 replica of the hover board from the BTTF 2 and BTTF 3 films includes multiple whooshing sounds and will glide over most surfaces (does not actually “hover” - check back in 2015 for that feature). We’ll be taking orders for it March 1 - March 20, 2012, and the final product will be shipped around November/December 2012. Because this is such a high-cost item, there will be a minimum number of orders required to go into production. If we don’t receive the minimum orders, won’t go into production and customers will not be charged. The price will be announced later this month. (Note: Hover board does not work on water.)

Okay, so it doesn’t actually hover, and it looks a little cheap, but the most-likely high price tag and limited production run make me want to sell my buttholeginity to strangers for one. Hot strangers that are also women, but still…

A Little Bit On The Tokusatsu Side: I didn’t think last summer’s Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Great Battle could be topped, and yet here we are with the trailer for this upcoming summer’s Kamen Rider × Super Sentai: Super Hero Taisen. For the most part of 35 years, Toei has kept its Kamen Rider and Super Sentai franchises separate from each other. So not only will they be crossing over in this movie, but it will most likely include the largest gathering of Japanese superheroes up until this date.

A Little Bit On The Violent Chinese Cinema Side: China’s highest grossing film, Let The Bullets Fly, hits select U.S. theaters and On Demand starting March 2nd. It sort of reminds me of Kung Fu Hustle, only replace martial arts with pumping fools full of lead and add a dash of Chow Yun-fat.

A Little Bit On The Horse Heart Side: With the Game of Thrones DVDs and Blu-Rays set to come out March 6, THR has a sneak peek of the behind the scenes content. We find out that the horse heart that Emilia Clarke as Daenerys Targaryen scarfed down for multiple takes was pretty much a giant gummy bear (gummy horse hearts make great Valentine’s gifts). There’s a word to describe someone like Clarke: keeper.
