When Gordon Met Chell [VIDEO]
What if after Chell escaped Aperture Laboratories at the end of Portal 2 she ran into Gordon Freeman from Half-Life? This fan film by Michael Shanks teams the two silent heroes up for an epic battle against the forces of evil. Watch as they kill things with portals and gravity. For science!

And here’s a sweet poster for the short film:

Weta Workshop Built Valve A Full-Scale, Motion-Detecting ‘Portal' Turret. There Were No Survivors.
Just kidding, no one died. Yet.
Weta Workshop, the New Zealand based prop house most known for their work on the Lord of the Rings movies, gifted Valve this life-size, animatronic, talking, targeting turret from the Portal games.
Lookit.

And here’s a video of the Sentry Turret in motion-detecting action.

I don’t think I’m alone in needing a small army of these for my front yard.

A Little Bit on the SteamPortal Side: If Tesla was the art director of Portal, the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device would look like. It was created by DeviantArt user, batman-n-bananas.

Weekend Film Fest 12/17

Welcome to the first installment of the ALBOTAS Weekend Film Fest, where I’ll be rounding up the latest in amazing trailers, fan films, shorts, etc. I’ll also be posting some classics that just need to be seen again. I wasn’t looking for a specific theme this week, but one did come about organically. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show.

A Little Bit On The Left 4 Dead Side: This is a trailer for an upcoming Left 4 Dead fan film by Airsoft GI. While it’s a little light on the action side, you can get glimpses of this project’s potential. Hell, it already looks better than that Left 4 Dead porno that came out a couple years back.

'Portal: No Escape' Will Blow Your Gosh Danged Mind

Ack! Two Portal posts in one day! I promise not to make this a habit, but this is just too damn awesome.

Dan Trachtenberg from The Totally Rad Show has beein directing commercials for a few years now, but I’m thinking this short homage to the Portal series just became his quick ticket to movie directing. And if not, I’m sure we can rally up enough geeks to burn down Hollywood until they see things our way.

Gamescom Trailer for DotA 2 is Live

Valve just showed this off on their Dota 2 facebook page, and I have to say I’m impressed. I have to wonder how well it will do against Dota clone heavyweights League of Legends and Heroes of Newerth, though. If you’re interested, be sure to check out the Dota 2 website later this week for The International Dota 2 Championships taking place at Gamescom in Germany, where Valve is giving out a $1,000,000 grand prize.

Dear Albotians,
Since Valve is a bunch of righteous peeps, they’re giving away the first volume of the Portal 2 soundtrack, [Songs To Test By]. There’s also six songs that they made short ringtone versions of, so yeah. Go grab that ish right HERE.
