Hey, Listen! ‘Oracle of Seasons’ and ‘Oracle of Ages’ Hit eShop Today!

Not only are two of the greatest (and arguably most underplayed) Zelda titles hit the Nintendo eShop today, but they’re being offered at a discounted $4.99 each until June 20!

There’s also The Denpa Men 2: Beyond the Waves and a demo for Project X Zone. Man, it’s a good day to own a 3DS.

Hyrule Varsity Jacket
Part of me really wants this Zelda Varsity jacket from Much Needed Merch, but 1.) I’m not sure if they’re embroidered or just screen printed, and 2.) varsity jackets are kind of last year. Also, these kinds of jackets remind me of “actor”/”musician” Drake, and that just puts me in a terrible mood because I hate being reminded of terrible things.
Cool idea though.

Adorableness at MegaCon, Part 1

While I did snag a lot of shots of adult and teenage cosplayers this weekend at MegaCon, let’s not forget about the little ones. These parents are super awesome and their kids are even cooler for enjoying it.

I still can’t get over how cute that Link was this weekend!

Zelda Rupees Re-imagined as Paper Banknotes
Here’s a clever series of paper banknotes that were created to represent Hyrulian currency from the Legend of Zelda series. The rupee bills were imagined by Deviant Artist g33k1nd159153 (really dude?) and show each value in writing, as well as color, true to to the series.

Life-Size Princess Zelda Papercraft
This is a real life-size Princess Zelda papercraft that stands at 170cm (around 67 inches (5’6” ish)), built by a DeviantART user who devoted a lot of time, minidelirium. The original craft was created by PaperJuke here. Feel free to download it if you want to spend a lifetime trying to impress your other gamer friends.
According to minidelirium’s DA post:

the cutting took 88h and the folding and building took 138h. I made a big mistake in the beginning and printed her on 120g paper, so I had to do it all over again in 160g and 200g paper. I’m very satisfied with the result and look forward to giving her to a distant friend. she is about 170cm tall.

That’s a lot of paper and a lot of time.

How About a Wind Waker Demake?
I know that this would never happen, but I’d much rather have a Wind Waker demake instead of the recently announced HD upgrade. A reimagined Wind Waker with SNES-style sprites and scaling would be pretty cool. And navigating the ocean using Mode 7 would be amazing (think Final Fantasy VI’s airship gameplay). I wouldn’t say Nintendo are averse to taking risks, but they’d never do something like this. And they’d probably squash any homebrew that popped up. Oh well.

Wind Waker Is Getting An HD Upgrade For WiiU

And it looks gorgeous! It almost has a claymation look to it. Better yet, Nintendo is finishing it up so we have a Zelda game to play while they work on an all new Zelda adventure just for WiiU!

Check out a bunch of other big announcements below in the latest Nintento Direct vdeo like Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem, new Virtual Console stuff like Game Boy Advance games, and an untitled Yoshi game that I’m calling Yoshi’s Epic Yarn.

Skrillex Has A Video Game And It’s Awesome

It’s easy to hate on Skrillex since hating popular things just seems to be the status quo these days, but no matter which side of the Skrillex/dubstep fence you stand on, this game is definitely worth checking out.

The heavily 8-bit inspired Skrillex Quest mixes hints of Zelda, Journey, Ico, and Sword & Sworcery with trippy, glitchy, epileptic shock-inducing graphics. And, yes, it’s set to a Skrillex track (but it’s more chill and trance-y compared to his more violently wubby stuff) and uses iconic cues from his arsenal of songs as sound effects. If all that doesn’t sound like your cup of tea, just mute it, but it definitely adds to the overall experience.

The whole game can be completed in around 20 minutes. Check it out for free at SkrillexQuest.com.

It’s also worth mentioning that this was made by Jason Oda, the same guy who made the incredible Flash game based on one of my favorite 80’s sitcoms, Perfect Strangers.

New Hyrule Historia Cover Is Pure Class
Hey, listen! The book detailing the history of The Legend of Zelda just got a new and improved cover. I was able to flip through the Japanese version, and while I wasn’t super impressed, I’ll definitely be picking up the English version. The book more heavily covered the recent games and only had a few pages dedicated to the pre-N64 titles. I’d love to play a magic ocarina to travel back to 1985 and ‘86 while the original game was being developed, but since that’s probably not going to happen, I’ll settle for the few pages of insight this book provides.
